Can I return or exchange an item?

Yes. We accept returns and exchanges within 14 days of delivery, provided the garment is unworn and in its original condition. Please see our [Returns & Exchange] for the full process.

Care & Character

How should I care for my garments?

To preserve natural fibers and herbal dyes, we recommend hand washing in cold water with mild detergent and drying in the shade.

Why does my garment look slightly different from the photo?

Because we use plant-based dyes and natural fibers, each piece carries its own character. These subtle variations in tone are not flaws, but a signature of the organic dyeing process.

Will the color change over time?

Our plant-based dyes are "living colors." They may subtly shift or mellow over time with wear and washing. It’s a natural characteristic of high-quality herbal dyes that reflects the life of the garment.

Production & Practice

Where are Bitter Butter garments made?

All garments are produced in Nepal. We work directly with local tailoring teams, allowing for close collaboration and oversight of craftsmanship and working conditions.

Why are garments produced in small quantities?

We produce in limited runs to ensure rigorous attention to construction and finish. Each style is limited to 30–40 pieces in total. This measured pace allows us to maintain quality while avoiding the waste of overproduction.

What materials do you use?

We prioritize natural fibers such as hemp, cotton, and nettle fabrics chosen for durability, breathability, and their ability to age gracefully. Texture, strength, and longevity are central to our selection process.

How do you minimize waste?

Pattern development is approached with precision to reduce fabric waste. Where possible, offcuts are repurposed and incorporated into future developments, encouraging a mindful use of all materials.

How transparent are your practices?

Transparency is a continuous commitment. We communicate our materials and sourcing with clarity, refining our processes as the brand evolves. Responsibility is treated as an ongoing practice rather than a finished claim.
